Give An Ayurvedic Solution to Acidity During Monsoon

August 13, 2022

Monsoon is the season that makes people prone to diseases, especially gut-related problems. The highly humid monsoon weather tends to cause our digestion process to slow down, which can cause problems like bloating, gastric, acidity and indigestion.

Here are some tips for you to keep your gut health on its ace game this monsoon.

1. Eat slowly

There may be more reflux into the esophagus when the stomach is really full. You might want to give "grazing," a try. Eating smaller meals more frequently rather than three meals a day helps maintain digestive health.

2. Use light oils

During Monsoon, instead of using mustard oil, butter or peanut oil, that generate heat within your body, choose lighter oils that are easily digestible. Use oils including olive oil, ghee or sunflower oil for the maintenance of your digestive systems.[1] [2]

3. Include ginger in your diet

Ginger increases secretion of saliva, bile and gastric juices. It helps your body rapidly break down food and assimilate the nutrients. It can also fight gastric inflammation and is an excellent remedy for an upset stomach. Consume a small portion of grated ginger with a dash of rock salt first thing before each meal.

4. Avoid spicy foods

There are some foods that are more likely than others to trigger acid reflux, including mint, fatty foods, spicy foods, tomatoes, onions, garlic, coffee, tea, chocolate, and alcohol. If you eat any of these foods regularly, you might try eliminating them to see if doing so controls your reflux, and then try adding them back one by one.

5. Mint leaves

Commonly known as pudina, mint leaves are also known to have digestive properties and can act as a natural cooling agent too. This helps you get proper relief from acidity and heartburn. Additionally, mint leaves are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, and B-complex, phosphorous, calcium, and has antibacterial properties.

6. Fennel seed

One of the best ways to prevent acidity is by chewing fennel seeds after your meal every day. You can also boil fennel seed in a cup of water and drink the decoction for relief from acidity. Fennel seeds contain oil that will aid in digestion and reduce bloating. It also calms the stomach lining and alleviates the burning sensation during acidity.

7. Have Gas-O-Fast solution

If you find yourself in the middle of acid reflux, the Ayurvedic solution of Gas-O-Fast is the best remedy to alleviate the symptoms. The 3 in 1 solution effectively works on acidity, gas and indigestion.
