Masaledar Chicken Lollipop

Chicken Lollipop is one of the famous appetizers among non-veg lovers. This can be served as a starter or a side in a meal. It’s a spicy and delicious appetizer that can be easily prepared.

For the masala:
8 red chillies
2 green chillies
White pepper
4 cloves
5-6 cloves of garlic
2 tsp cumin
1 tsp fennel
5-6 black pepper
1 stick cinnamon
6-7 Indian round chillies
Small piece of ginger
15 curry leaves
1 tsp coriander seeds
Handful of coriander leaves
1 tsp turmeric
1-2 tsp oil
A pinch of salt

For the chicken:
8-10 chicken lollipops with the skin
1 tsp turmeric
1-2 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsp oil

For the base:
2-3 tsp oil
2 tsp mustard seeds
7-8 curry leaves
1 onion
1 1/2 tbsp masala
3 tsp tamarind paste
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Coriander leaves to garnish


For the masala:
Take a pan and dry roast all the ingredients for a minute.
Beat all the ingredients together in a mortar and pestle.
Transfer it to the blender and make a fine paste.

For the chicken:
Marinate the chicken lollipops with turmeric, salt, red chilli powder and 2 tsp oil.
Add a little oil in a saucepan and sear the lollipops from all sides till they are half cooked.

For the base:
Take a pan, put refined oil and add mustard seeds, few curry leaves, and onion. Roast them well together.
Add the masala and chicken lollipop into the base and saute them well together.
Add tamarind extract and water. Mix them well and cover the top.
Add little lemon. Toss well and cook till chicken is ready.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
